Mrs. Kimberly Jasper
A resident of Milan, I am ecstatic to have the privilege of serving the students in our community! Middle school students are my favorite people - I enjoy their wittiness, silliness, sarcasm, and, yes, challenges!
2021-2022 will mark my first year as building principal, but my thirteenth year as an educator at Milan Middle School. I began my teaching career in 2007 at the Adult Education Program here in Milan, then transitioned to the middle school in 2009. Over the years I have taught Success for Tomorrow, Spanish 7/8, and English/Language Arts 7. In May 2019, I became the Assistant Principal and have served for the last two years in that role.
I earned my teaching degree through Eastern Michigan University's Secondary Education program (Major: Language, Literature, and Writing; Minor: Spanish for Teaching), then pursued a Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum through Michigan State University. I went back to EMU as a post-graduate student to earn certification for school administration. I am now working towards an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership through Northern Michigan University.
On a personal level, my husband, four daughters, and I live in Milan with our two dogs. All of my children are students of Milan Area Schools (Symons, MMS, and, MHS). It has been a joy to see my kids at work! My husband was raised in Milan and attended Milan Area School; I was raised in Saline and attended schools in Ann Arbor and Saline. We love bike or walk to Main Street for treats from Life is Sweet, dinner at Peppers, and 3rd Thursdays. We are proud of the growth of this community over the last several years and are excited for what's yet to come!
Looking toward the upcoming school year, I am thankful to you for entrusting your students to Milan Middle School. I look forward to partnering with you:)
