Milan Area Schools is a community committed to achieving academic excellence for all learners through research, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Michigan law requires that every 7th Grader and every new student entering school be immunized against specific diseases. Parents/guardians that choose to waive these requirements, must follow these rules. The requirements state that parents seeking a non-medical waiver for school-required immunizations must go to the local health department for a discussion regarding vaccines. Then the health department will issue a non-medical waiver. The original waiver needs to be delivered to Milan Middle School in order to be fullly compliant with the law.
Medical waiver forms can be obtained from school and must be signed by your student’s physician. They can also be found at www.michigan.gov/immunize.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this morning’s 12 Days of Fitness activity! What is happening tomorrow? “On the Seventh Day of Fitness Mrs. Etter gave to me -- 10 Tuck Jumps!”
Student Council would love for you to participate in our next spirit week which will take place next week. Monday will be pajama day. Tuesday is holiday hat and holiday socks day. Wednesday is blizzard day! Thursday is holiday character or holiday colors day. Finally, Friday is ugly sweater day. If you forget the days, just check with your PowerTime StuCo representative.
Tomorrow is the last day to bring in items for the food drive which will benefit Aid in Milan and our community. In 6th grade, Mrs. Burden is still in the lead with 130 items, but Mr. Romans is catching up with 90 items. In 7th grade, Ms. Middleton is leading the pack with 121 food items, and no other class is close to catching up. Finally, in 8th grade, Mr. Price leads with 399 items, but Mrs. Smaby is getting closer with 317 food items. Remember, there is a winner at EACH grade level, and tomorrow is the final day for donations.
Call-back Auditions for the Little Mermaid are today from 4-5:30. Only students who received a call-back invitation email from Ms. Burden should attend this event. Students who were not able to attend on Monday and want to do a make-up audition may also come from 4-4:30. Students may not stay after to wait, please leave and return at 4:00. The cast list will be posted early next week!
