    Milan High School Local Scholarship Opportunities

    2023 GMACF Scholarship Descriptions and App

    The Greater Milan Area Community Foundation (GMACF) has automated the scholarship process for students. Via the online application, it is now a one-stop shop for students. The digital application makes students eligible for most of the scholarship funds handled by the GMACF. Paper copies are no longer needed as all components may be completed electronically. 

    Visit this website and follow the instructions to create an account. This allows access to the scholarship applications.  Students may apply for these scholarships from December 1 thru February 21, 2024.

    Names of the GMACF scholarships that are available to Milan students:

    Caroline O’Donnell & Judy Heath Memorial Scholarship
    (1) $1,000 award – For those pursuing a career in healthcare.

    Joe O’Donnell Memorial Scholarship

    Michael A. Tittiger Sustainability & Conservation Scholarship
    (1) $1,000 award – For minority status seniors interested in environmental sustainability and/or conservation.

    Milan Adult Education Scholarship(1) $500 award – For tuition and textbook assistance within the Milan Adult Education program.

    Evelyn Gerstenberg (Hitchingham) Scholarship
    (1) $2,000 award – For those pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.

    Ronnie and Paulette Shores Scholarship Fund
    (1) up to $6,000 award ($1,500 per year for four years) – For those with a physical disability.

    Ethel Richards Scholarship
    (3) $2,000 awards – For those pursuing a Business degree.

    Milan Area School Board Scholarship
    (4) $1,250 awards – For those pursuing college or a vocational program.

    Duane & Isabelle Schultz – Milan Area Schools Alumni Scholarship
    (2) $1,000 awards – For those pursuing college or a vocational program.

    Ethan C. Jones Memorial Scholarship
    (1) $1,500 award – For those pursuing college or a vocational program.

    David Glenn Memorial Scholarship
    (2) $1,200 awards – For those pursuing a degree in education.

    Eric Harrison Memorial Scholarship
    (1) $2,000 award – For varsity sports athletes pursuing a college or business school degree.

    Wendy's Heisman Scholarship
    100 scholarships, ranging from $500 to $5,000, along with recognition at the state and national levels.

    AES Engineer Scholarship
    This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post-secondary educational facility.
    You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

    MEA (Michigan Education Association) Scholarship

    Priority is given on the basis of:

    • Academic achievement
    • Extra-curricular activities

    BigSun Scholarship

    Student-athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. Their participation may be in any capacity, whether as a player, coach or official.

    Deadline -  June, 2023

    Amount of Award - $500.00
     
    The successful applicant will be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community.
