When my youngest began high school, I decided to go back to school for a Master's Degree in Elementary Education at the University of Michigan through a one-year intensive program that involved concurrent student teaching and full-time course work.  After I completed my degree, I taught 5th grade at South Arbor Academy for five years before moving to 4th grade at Symon's for the 2021-2022 school.  I love the Symon's community - staff, parents, and students!  My husband I were married in 1996 and our daughter was born in 1997.  Our son was born in 2001.  My children are both now living (mostly) outside their home, so my husband and I share our house with 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a tortoise.  Besides teaching and taking care of pets, I enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, and especially traveling.  One item on my bucket list is to visit all 7 continents.  Currently, we've traveled to 3 - Asia, Europe, and South America, in addition to traveling to Canada and Mexico.
