Community Input: Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan
Hello Milan Community,
The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act was signed into law in March of 2021. Under this Act, the U.S. Department of Education is providing an additional $121.9 billion for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER III Fund). Milan Area Schools will be receiving and expending these funds during the 2022-2023 school year.
During the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years, Milan Area Schools, like every other district in the state, was operating under an Extended Continuity of Learning Plan (ECOL). The ARP ESSER III Act requires each district to have a “Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan”. The district developed a plan and accepted public input on the plan during a community Zoom on September 26, 2022 (video, presentation).
This plan is required, even though Milan Area Schools has been providing full in-person instruction since August 30, 2021. The components that the plan must encompass are dictated by the Act. However, the content of the plan is developed by the district and must consider public input in the finalization and regular review.
The district will be hosting two additional community Zoom input sessions on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 6:00 PM and Tuesday, September 14, 2023, at 6:00 PM. A copy of the plan is available HERE.
