June 2022 Board Vacancy

Milan Area Schools is seeking applications for a vacant position on the Board of Education. An individual will be appointed by the Board to fill the vacant position through December 31, 2022 and will be replaced on January 1, 2023 by the individual elected to the position during the November 2022 election.

Interested persons must submit an application to the Superintendent at the District Office (100 Big Red Drive, Milan, MI  48160) no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.  Click here for the application

Following a review of the submitted applications, the Board will schedule interviews with each eligible applicant. These interviews are tentatively scheduled to take place during the regularly scheduled Board Workshop Meeting at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.  

Eligibility - to be eligible, a person must be:

  • A Citizen of the United States
  • A Registered Voter in the Milan Area School District
  • Eighteen (18) Years of Age or Older
  • A Resident of Michigan and the Milan Area School District for Thirty (30) Days

A few current members of the Board of Education will be hosting an in-person Big Red Board Chat at 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 12th in the Symons Elementary School Cafeteria.  These board members will be sharing information and answering questions about the impending appointment and the upcoming election.  This two-way communication with the community serves to help anyone gain a better understanding of the responsibilities of school board service as well as school district priorities.
