Transportation Group Negotiations
- Negotiation Session 1 on July 6:
- Exchanged terms and interests
- Negotiation Session 2 on July 22:
- A proposal from the MAS Bargaining Team Representatives was shared regarding bus cleaning hours, attendance, sick leave cap, and wages.
- The Transportation group verbally accepted the offer and will be taking it to their membership on Tuesday, July 28, seeking a vote for a tentative agreement.
- Received a signed Tentative Agreement from the Transportation Association on July 30, which was scheduled to be brought to the MAS Board of Education for approval at their meeting on August 12.
- The MAS School Board provided an affirmative vote to approve the Tentative Agreement with the Transportation Association on August 12, 2026.
Cafeteria Group Negotiations
- Negotiation Session 1 on July 1:
- Exchanged terms and interests
- A proposal from the MAS Bargaining Team representatives was shared regarding substitute pay rates, longevity, attendance, and wages.
- Negotiation Session on July 29:
- Agreed to terms on position titles, substitute pay rates, and attendance language.
- A wage proposal from the MAS Bargaining Team representatives was reviewed and approved.
- The Cafeteria Group verbally accepted the offer and will be taking it to their membership seeking a vote for a tentative agreement.
- Received a signed Tentative Agreement from the Cafeteria Group on July 29, which was scheduled to be brought to the MAS Board of Education for approval at their meeting on August 12.
- The MAS School Board provided an affirmative vote to approve the Tentative Agreement with the Cafeteria Group on August 12, 2026.
MASSS Association Negotiations
- Negotiation Session 1 on July 2:
- Exchanged terms and interests.
- A proposal from the MAS Bargaining Team was shared regarding language cleanup for job classification and break time during summer hours. Discussed furlough days, new evaluation forms, and wages.
- Negotiation Session 2 on July 17:
- The MASSS Association provided counter proposals that were discussed in the whole group.
- The MAS Bargaining Team shared and reviewed a concept for new wage charts that shortened the number of levels to get to top pay. The MASSS Association was interested in seeing a developed proposal of this wage concept.
- Both parties discussed and agreed upon proposals for job classification and break time.
- Negotiation Session 3 on August 3:
- The MAS Bargaining Team provided an additional proposal to update the employee evaluation forms.
- The MASSS Association shared ideas for a counter proposal.
- The MAS Bargaining Team provided an updated offer on proposals for contract language, including a new wage scale, within a three-year package.
- Negotiation Section 4 on August 13:
- Both parties discussed details of the new wage offer.
- Both parties discussed and agreed upon proposals for the new employee evaluation forms.
- Negotiation Session 5 August 28:
- The MAS Bargaining Team presented proposals to correct/update language on items related to health care coverage and additional compensation related to extra-duty assignments. The MAS Bargaining Team also accepted the most recent wage proposal from MASSS.
- The MASSS Bargaining Team accepted the new proposals.
- Both parties agreed to all terms covered during negotiations and the MASSS Team will be sharing the terms with their association for a vote to potentially reach a tentative agreement.
MEA Negotiations
- Negotiation Session 1 July 22:
- Exchanged terms and interests and created a shared document to track progress.
- The MEA Negotiating Team proposed language addressing cash-in-lieu of health insurance, cash-in-lieu of dental/vision insurance, student discipline, personal leave time, maternity/paternity leave, compensation for attending meetings, terminal leave pay, early sick-time payout, extra duty compensation, and wages.
- The MAS Bargaining Team offered counter-proposals for cash-in-lieu of health insurance, cash-in-lieu of dental/vision insurance, student discipline, personal leave time, maternity/paternity leave, compensation for attending meetings, terminal leave pay, early sick-time payout, and wages.
- The MAS Bargaining Team agreed to the MEA proposal on extra-duty compensation.
- The next negotiation session scheduled for July 30.
- Negotiation Session 2 July 30:
- The MEA Negotiating Team offered counter proposals to the remaining items.
- The MAS Negotiating Team offered counter proposals to the remaining items.
- The next negotiation session scheduled for July 31.
- Negotiation Session 3 July 31:
- The MEA Negotiating Team offered counter proposals to the remaining items.
- The MAS Negotiating Team offered counter proposals to the remaining items.
- The next negotiation session scheduled for August 3.
- Negotiation Session 4 August 3:
- The MEA Negotiating Team offered counter proposals to the remaining items.
- The MAS Negotiating Team offered counter proposals to the remaining items.
- The MEA Negotiating Team agreed to the July 31 counter proposal for Terminal Leave pay.
- The next negotiation session scheduled TBD following the MAS Board meeting closed session on August 12.
- Negotiation Session 5 August 19:
- The MAS Negotiating Team offered counter proposals to the remaining items and added new items for discussion; referencing language cleanup for an insurance clause, dental insurance reference, calendar year reference, and evaluations.
- The MEA Negotiating Team offered counter proposals to the remaining items and agreed to updated terms for Maternity/Paternity Leave, language adjustment for calendar year reference, and dental insurance reference.
- Next negotiation session will be scheduled after the next BOE Meeting on Aug. 26.
