Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS)
At Milan Area Schools, we are committed to providing an educational environment where every student has access to high-quality instruction and individualized support to meet their full potential.
Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a comprehensive, prevention-focused framework aligned to address students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs through increasingly targeted levels of instruction and intervention.
Our Core Framework
-
Tier 1 — Universal Instruction (All Students): High-quality classroom instruction, core curriculum, and positive behavior supports designed to meet the needs of all learners.
-
Tier 2 — Targeted Support (Some Students): Supplemental, small-group instruction and intervention for students who require additional academic or behavioral support alongside Tier 1 instruction.
-
Tier 3 — Intensive Support (Few Students): Highly individualized, intensive interventions tailored to address specific learning or behavioral needs.
