Adult & Community Education

Whether it’s been a few years or over a decade, it’s never too late to earn your high school diploma. At Milan Adult Education, we offer flexible evening classes designed to fit your busy schedule. Meet with us to review your transcript and discuss what courses you still need. Whatever it is - from core classes to extracurriculars - we have you covered. You can also get credit for various life experiences and volunteer work. Come see us - we will get you on a path to success! Once completing our program, you'll have earned a Milan High School Diploma!

We provide a variety of programs to support adult learners, including:

• Adult Basic Education

• High School Completion Courses to earn a Milan High School Diploma

We have flexible class schedules to assist with all types of learners.

• In Person Classes: Offered Tuesday (English and Social Studies) and Wednesday (English, Social Studies, and Math) evenings from 6:20p to 8:20p. Great option for students who need the extra push to stay on track or struggle with a subject and learn better from having a teacher in front of them.
• Online Classes: Using the E2020 program, you can take a variety of courses at your own pace with an online instructor via email for questions and assistance. An excellent option for someone self-motivated who needs the flexibility to attend classes whenever it works for their schedule.  
• Blended Classes: If you can only come one night a week instead of both, or you want to double up on the classes to earn your diploma sooner, you can do our blended class option. With this option, you attend two hours of the class in person and two hours a week online. This is a great option for someone who needs a little more flexibility, but still likes the opportunity to sit with a teacher for some guidance.

Is English not your first language? Do you struggle with reading? English is complicated, but don't let it hold you back from pursuing your diploma! We got you covered with English Language Learners and Supplementary Reading Courses.

Interested in an adult enrichment class? We have a variety of courses that span one day to several weeks including music, baking, language classes, and more! 

Interested in a medical career? Looking for certification? We have lots of online programs for medical certifications.

Looking to start a new career, update your resume, or get help with your FAFSA application? The Career Cruising program at Milan Community Education is here to help—all free of charge and open to community members of all ages.

This nationally recognized career development tool offers support with:

• Resume writing

• Career exploration and self-assessments

• FAFSA and college planning

Whether you're a student planning your future or an adult making a career change, Career Cruising provides resources to support your next step.

Our youth programs are designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and support learning in a fun and welcoming environment. With offerings for children and teens of all ages, Milan Community Education provides opportunities for students to explore new interests, connect with peers, and grow both in and out of the classroom.

Programs are available throughout the year and vary by age group.

Dive into fun and fitness with our community water programs! We offer a variety of classes and activities designed for all ages and skill levels—from safety-focused instruction to low-impact exercise and recreational swim.

• Water Aerobics: Stay active with our popular water aerobics classes, led by instructor Lindsey Butzin. Join a full session or drop in for just $6 ($4 for seniors). Morning and evening options available.

• Water & Boating Safety: Learn essential skills to stay safe in and around water. Great for both kids and adults—private lessons available.

• Open Swim: Enjoy recreational swim time or get your laps in during open swim hours at the Milan High School pool.

🏀 Youth Sports Coaches
We’re actively seeking coaches for all sports and age levels.

• Programs offered for Grades K–8, depending on coach availability

• Middle school coaches especially needed

• Let us know your sport and age group interest

🌊 Water Aerobics Instructor

• Must have Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certification

• Teach 2 days per week during the summer season

🚨 Part-Time Lifeguard

• Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certification required

• Morning shifts with some evening availability

• 15–20 hours per week

🚨 Substitute Lifeguard

• Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certification required

• On-call basis for Open Swim coverage

• Flexible scheduling, up to 20 hours/week as needed
