I am very excited to welcome you to a new year at Symons Elementary School!  If you are a returning Milan student, you may already know me as Señora Chris – the elementary Spanish teacher .  When the elementary Spanish program ended at the end of 2021, I moved to 5^th grade.  This will be my 10th year in Milan, and my second year as a 5th grade teacher in Milan.

My Experience: 

I grew up in San Diego, California.  I studied history, education, and Spanish at UC Davis in northern California.  After graduation, I taught in Sacramento, in a bilingual classroom where I taught the 5^th grade curriculum in both English and Spanish.  After 5 years, I switched to a 5^th grade multicultural, multi-lingual classroom.  In 2005, I moved to Michigan with my family, and we currently reside in Chelsea. During my time in Michigan, I have worn many hats, including private tutor, daycare provider, and teacher for the First Steps Washtenaw program in Chelsea - and of course, 10 years as a Milan teacher.
