I am very excited to serve Milan 6th graders, their families, and the Milan Middle School community as the new 6th grade math teacher.  I recently moved back to Michigan after spending the past twenty years living in the Cleveland area where my husband & I raised our son and daughter.  I grew up moving throughout the great state of Michigan with my family (Harper Woods, Saginaw, Cadillac, & Traverse City) and all of my adult life in the Detroit area, so I'm thrilled to be back in the mitten state.  I love teaching middle schoolers and began my career as a middle school math teacher, serving 13 years as a teacher of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  Early in my teaching career, I also led my colleagues in establishing interdisciplinary instruction and project-based learning for middle school students at West Maple Middle School and Birmingham Covington School, both in the Birmingham Public School District.  While I also have served PK-8th grade students as a principal and assistant principal in both Ohio and Michigan, I am thrilled to be returning to my roots as a math teacher.  I especially love helping students learn to think like mathematicians and finding ways to make learning math easier and fun!

On a personal note, I love to hike, run, bike, read, and hang out with my family (husband, Kevin; son, Marty; daughter, Gwynnie) and our pets (a schnoodle named Sgt. Pepper & a black cat named Jeffy).  We are a divided family - Kevin & Marty are HUGE UM fans who bleed Maize & Blue, while Gwynnie, a current junior at The Ohio State University, is a proud Buckeye!  However, I try to stay out of the family college sports disputes or act as a mediator because I'm a MAC girl, having graduated from Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, and Kent State University (Fire up Chips, Go Eagles, & Fight on Flashes!)
