Junior Team Goals
No D's! The Junior team staff are raising the bar for students! Core junior team members will no longer be issuing D's for grades! Look for extra support to help our students learn more!
ACT Prep: All juniors will be participating in an MME/ACT preparation program this winter. Most juniors will be doing this during their SRT. It is a part of the Junior Year SRT requirement – and will help your child do his/her best on the MME in March!
ACT: For your information, ACT reports that students often improve by at least 1 full point on the ACT when taking it a second time. This is due to student's comfort with the test, as well as the statistical standard error that comes with any evaluation. We encourage students planning on going to college to take the ACT twice – as a higher score can open the door to more elite universities or more scholarship opportunities.
Writing -- Increase MME/ACT writing scores on essays!
13th Year Planning: Juniors should begin thinking about the 4-5 universities, colleges, trade schools or military options they want to pursue after high school now. This includes attending sessions at the high school, but also can include visiting the schools with their parent. Remember, if you and your child visit a college or university together, the school will consider this school business, and it will not affect attendance requirements. This is a valuable field trip for you to consider! Contact colleges in their admission office to schedule a tour!
