- Fill the pan half way full with water.
- Cover the pan with a sheet of foil.
- Secure the foil by tying it down with string or a rubberband.
- Set the pan in an area that has open sky above.
- Let the pan sit for a while. The longer the pan sits the more micrometeorites collected.
- Carefully uncover the pan and gently place the foil to the side without crumpling the foil. Hold the foil up to a light source. Light will shine through the holes made by the micrometeorites.
- Slowly sweep a magnet through the water along the bottom of the pan to collect your meteorites. The magnetic meteorites will stick to the magnet.
- Try viewing the micrometeorites with a microscope or a magnifying glass.
